Guided Access to hpc

Overview

Cheaha is the fastest supercomputer in Alabama with 450 TFLOPS of processing power, over 6 PB of high-performance storage, and a dedicated high-speed research network connection.

We have invested more than a decade working together with Research Computing to grow and realize HPC at UAB and our stakeholders benefit from this shared history and ongoing close working relationship. For those problems best solved in HPC, we make sure Cheaha is on track, in both capability and capacity, to meet current and anticipated needs.

In particular:

  • We have seats on the HPC Users Advisory Committee.
    • This is a formal shared governance structure established by UAB in 2017.
  • We participate in the HPC Technical Advisory Group.
    • A more tech-focused and detail-oriented channel to communicate our use cases to HPC architects.

Whether you are already familiar with HPC and just need a pointer in the right direction or a newcomer that is not quite sure where to start, we guide our partners in understanding what problems HPC can help them solve and provide resources to facilitate their research activities on Cheaha.
